photo Beyond the Loss of the Breast
By Sherry Thomas-Zon

This unique and powerful video addresses breast cancer through the personal narratives and poetry of three women. Two of them are living with recurrent breast cancer, and they are joined by the filmmaker, whose mother died from metastatic disease. Each woman speaks openly and movingly about the life and death issues facing recurrent breast cancer patients and their families. The brief 'video poems' interwoven with their personal stories help to convey their experience of the disease.

Beyond the Loss of the Breast stresses the enormous value of poetry and art as means of self-expression for women with cancer. This beautiful video will help other women and their families and friends, as well as the healthcare professionals who work with them, to understand the impact of the disease on their lives.
